Printing ink, disposable diapers, and plastic…students in this course will learn about these agriculture products and more as they are introduced to the industry of Agriscience. Students will explore the basic processes of plant growth and the many products we get from plants. Class activities include a “plant war”, taste testing fruits, and making a corsage. Learn how agriscience is helping process and produceyour applesauce and potato chips in our food science unit. The class will conclude with a unit on basic pet care, including visits from various pets.
AgriScience B - (2011 - 2012 school year)
Root beer, cheese, and ice cream…students will explore the science of producing these agriculture products as they make them in the lab.Learn the basics of DNA and the importance of biotechnology in our society. Test water for fish production, find out how GPS is used in agriculture, and use a stethoscope to find the heart rate of a rabbit all in this class. The course ends with a basic overview of the dairy industry and its importance to Wisconsin.
