6th, 7th and 8th Grade Wrestling Letter from Coach Springer:
I am excited to introduce middle school wrestling to you. We have a five week season where we practice right after school until 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday except the days we have meets. We do not have weight classes and you are matched up with wrestlers that are your same size and experience level. It is a great opportunity whether you have never wrestled before or if you have a great deal of experience. Middle school wrestling is for both boys and girls in 6-8th grade. Girls can wrestle both boys and girls or just against other girls. Girls wrestling has been one of the fastest growing high school sports the last few years. The W.I.A.A. now has a Girls State Tournament and girls’ State Tournament is at the Kohl Center with the boys’ tournament.
If you have any questions please contact me, Coach Springer, by email dspringer@marshallschools.org or phone 608-655-4403 ext 1132.
*We have singlets that can be worn for meets, but it is okay to wear shorts, t-shirt, Under Armour or whatever you feel comfortable with as long as it is safe.
To participate in wrestling students will need the following items:
Physical Card or Alternate Year Card (kept on file in the Middle School)
Emergency Information/Code
Athletic fee of $35.
Wrestling shoes (we have a few, but you will want your own)
The forms are available on Marshall Public Schools Website, or in the office if needed.
You will need a current physical card and signed pledge card. The clinic in town (Prairie Ridge) does sports physicals on Mondays and Wednesdays.
