6th Grade Class Books

Throughout the school year, we select three books to read as a whole class.  We try to select books from different genres to ensure that students are reading various types of books.  Our goal is to have students read and discuss books they would not normally pick up on their one, yet end up enjoying.

We also use these books to practice the many reading skills and strategies modeled during reading instruction.

Here are this year's books:

Walk Two Moons
By: Sharon Crech(Realistic Fiction)
On a long car trip, 13-year-old Salamanca Tree Hiddle tells her grandparents the story of a friend who copes with a lunatic and the disappearance of her mother, a tale that reflects Sal's own experience with abandonment.  Reprint. Newbery Medal Winner. Adapted from Booksource.com
