Overview
The American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act, the third federal COVID-19 relief law, passed in March 2021, provides one-time funds for our district through the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) III grant program. The district is expected to receive $1,865,880 in ESSER III funding to be used to support our response to the COVID-19 pandemic taking place between March 13, 2020 through September 30, 2024. Funds will be used to help safely reopen and sustain the safe operation of schools and address the impact of the pandemic on Marshall’s students.
Marshall Public Schools encourages all stakeholders to complete the Proposed Plan survey (https://forms.gle/nfACednKUPWZFHLY7) to share ideas and priorities for potential fund allocation. The district plans to use 40% ($746,352) to address learning loss and $900,000 over the next two years to offset eligible expenditures previously funded by the general fund ($450,000 in 2022-23 and in 2023-2024).
Before the start of the 2022-2023 school year, the district will reach out again to all stakeholders to review that funds are being used to maintain the health and safety of our students and staff, addressing student academic needs, social, mental health, and food services needs.
